Biography
Stapleton Learning Center was founded by Johanna Smith in 2007 on the basis that all children deserve to reach their personal best.

Johanna was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts.  She graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder and studied overseas extensively.  Through Semester at Sea, she studied art and international relations in South America, Africa, and Asia and lived in Yangshuo, China.  Johanna also enjoyed a semester studying at the University of Innsbruck in Austria with field studies in Italy, Germany, and Poland. 

After graduating, Johanna taught in Littleton Public Schools for ten years.  As a teacher at a Direct Instruction/Core Knowledge school, she received ongoing training in positive discipline, classroom management, and lesson delivery.  During those years, she taught basic subjects (reading, writing, spelling and math) as well as specialized classes.  Art was her specialty for four years before moving on to a 5th grade homeroom and later becoming a reading specialist.  Johanna credits the superior training and excellent mentoring she received for helping her become the teacher she is today.
